Excellent progress on the Musgrave crane over the last two weeks.
The cross travel crab has been fitted, along with the hoist worm-gear support. We have fitted and aligned the long travel shaft and central support. It took a bit of blue engineer paint, some podging and sanding to get it all lined up but we got there.
The cross travel geartrain is now complete and lined up, and Tom couldn’t help but wedge a Saturday in and and fit the cross travel chain!
A lot of effort for whoever uses this in future, exactly 170 turns of the pulley draws the traveller from one end or side, to the other!
Lots of work to be done to the chain to ensure its reliability but the work is all comfortably on schedule. Arthur, Tom and Sandy and the gang have been hard at it.
We are just waiting on news from CADW on what colour to paint the crane, so hopefully we can start painting it next week.
It’s nearly there folks!
